Bangladesh Environment Conservation Act, 1995. (Act No. 1 of 1995)
This Act establishes the Department of Environment, whose main goal is to mitigate environmental pollution, setting rules for dealing with hazardous substances, stating that areas can be declared ecologically critical, requiring environmental clearance certificates, and providing environmental guidelines. The act regulates the discharge of effluent wastewater into surface water bodies. This act is supported by the 2016 Bangladesh Standards and Guidelines for Sludge Management.
