Presidential Decree No. 856 Promulgating the Code on Sanitation of the Philippines

This legislation establishes that all foods must be obtained from sources approved by the local health authority, the treatment of water must conform to procedures prescribed by the Department, requirements for sewage treatment plants, and that cities and municipalities are responsible for collecting, transporting and disposing solid wastes in their areas of jurisdiction in a manner approved by the local health authority.
