Public Health Ordinance, 1940
This law covers a variety of public health issues and contains broad emergency powers for health events. Section 19 states that, in the event of a localized disease epidemic within Israel or Palestine, Israeli medical authorities have the right to take any measures necessary to contain the disease, which can include the mandatory administration of vaccines. Likewise, section 20 states that, in the event of a disease that effects all Israeli territory, the Israeli government can impose mandates on the whole country, which may include quarantine or the application of treatments to any member of the public in the country.
