Federal Act on Patents for Inventions
(Patents Act, PatA)
This Act on patenting describes that genetic sequence data is not patentable if readily found in nature (Art 1b). It also outlines that patents must declare the source of biological resources and traditional knowledge associated with them, otherwise the patent will be denied or fined.
